Dare to Lead

Leadership is one of the most misunderstood words in our world today. Too often, people think it belongs only to CEOs, politicians, or those with big platforms. But the truth is, leadership isn’t about position — it’s about responsibility. Each of us is leading somewhere, whether in our families, our communities, or simply through the way we live our lives. To lead is to influence, and to influence is to take responsibility for the impact of our choices. That’s why I call this Dare to Lead — because leadership requires courage.
It takes courage to serve. Jesus redefined greatness when He said, “The greatest among you will be your servant.” Real leadership isn’t measured by how many serve you, but by how many you serve. Serving means putting others first when it’s inconvenient, choosing humility over pride, and lifting people up when you’d rather focus on yourself. The world says power is control, but Christ teaches that true power is found in surrender.
It also takes courage to be different. It’s easy to follow the crowd, to live by the standards everyone else accepts. But leaders are called to higher ground. Romans reminds us not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by renewing our minds. To lead means being willing to walk away from comfort zones, to speak truth when silence would be easier, and sometimes to walk alone when others choose the wide road.
And yes, it takes courage to fail. Real leaders stumble. They make mistakes. They fall. But what sets them apart is the willingness to rise again, to learn from what went wrong, and to keep moving forward. Failure isn’t the end of leadership — it’s a part of it. Every time you rise again, you prove that courage isn’t about never falling, but about never quitting.
You don’t need a title to lead. You don’t need a stage, a corner office, or a large following. All you need is the courage to step forward. Courage to serve, courage to be different, courage to rise again. When you dare to lead in your home, in your workplace, or in your community, you become living proof of what God can do through an ordinary person with extraordinary faith.
Leadership is not about waiting for the perfect moment. It’s about daring to take the step today.
So let me leave you with this: where is God calling you to dare to lead right now?
